People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) PETA UK		A very active society, campaigning for the ethical treatment of animals, in all spheres.
Hillside Animal Sanctuary		A privately-run organisation working actively and energetically for real welfare. They have exposed many welfare atrocities, including those perpetrated by RSPCA Freedom Food farms and have assisted powerful television exposure. They supply free CDs of their films.
Uncaged		A scientifically-researched campaign against animal abuse.
Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)		The Professional Body, whose Code of Professional Veterinary Conduct we follow. UK vets must be registered with the RCVS. The RCVS is being powerfully lobbied, by a vociferous minority, to ban veterinary homeopathy.
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)		They use 74 pence in the pound directly for animal welfare. They campaign against the Annual Seal Hunt in Canada, in which about 250,000 to 350,000 seals are killed each year, many skinned alive.

Christian Aid		Christian Aid has really got its teeth into the climate change issue, making the holistic link between climate change and human poverty and distress. We don't usually support human charities and we neither promote nor decry any religions. However, this environmental initiative deserves an airing on its environmental credentials.

The Finch Self-Medication Website		A fascinating site recounting personal experiences with avian self-medication (zoopharmacognosy).
Natural Medicine Society		The Natural Medicines Society works hard on the political front, supporting natural medicine usage. It has also started the extremely valuable 'herb alert' campaign, to promote knowledge about the endangered plant species and the ethical harvesting and usage of plants in herbal medicine and aromatherapy."
