The AVMC is primarily a referral centre, for homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine and other holistic, complementary and alternative medicines. We invite referrals from the veterinary profession for homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, back problems etc., for dogs, cats, horses, ponies, farm animals and all species.

However, having been in the thick of alternative medicine for many years, we are involved in many other activities. Among these are teaching, education, lecturing, publishing and clinical research.

These pages describe our referral services and show the ancillary services of the AVMC, in research, in education, in welfare, in consultancy work, in Expert Witnessing and in publication.

We are happy to advise farms on Health Plans, companies on Natural Medicine and Nutritional matters and clients or veterinary surgeons on anything to do with our work, as described on this website. We offer holistic veterinary advice.

Chris Day is mainly known for his work as an acupuncture vet, herbal vet, homeopathic vet, chiropractic vet, holistic vet and natural vet. However, he also uses a wider spectrum of natural therapies, in order to offer each patient the best of integrated care.

These approaches represent a philosophy that is alternative to the current conventional norm but the use of alternative therapies does not do away with the need for a thorough examination and assessment. Nor does it preclude the use of modern diagnostic techniques where necessary. A holistic vet will take into account all these things, in addition to closely scrutinising lifestyle, diet, environment, riding, tack, shoeing, grazing, stabling, management etc., depending upon the species.

At the AVMC, we try not to be 'bogged down' by terminology or ideology. Much argument accompanies discussions on nomenclature. We do not mind whether we are called holistic, complementary, alternative or natural. Likewise, it does not matter whether we are described as a herbal, homeopathic, chiropractic, acupuncture or integrated veterinary practice. The medicine we practise is the best we can offer, for each patient and it matters not whether it is perceived as holistic medicine, alternative medicine, complementary medicine, natural medicine, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM - CAVM) or integrated medicine. We offer traditional standards of professional care, in an integrated package.

We accept no sponsorship from industry, commerce, insurance companies or any other commercial interest and we do not depend upon product or medicine sales, so our advice is truly independent and unaffected by profit motivation. Likewise, we do not promote commercial activities, so our links do not promote marketing material. We do not pay for search engine favours. Sadly, even in the holistic and natural medicine worlds, there are vets whose advice is attended by potential profits from product sales or links to companies.
