Anthroposophy and Anthroposophical Medicine

This is a philosophy of human medicine evolved by Rudolf Steiner (1861 – 1925), who was born a subject of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (in what is now Croatia) with his upbringing in Austria. Like homeopathy, it is a truly holistic practice, recognising the unitary nature of mind-body-spirit in human beings. Steiner Waldorf education and Biodynamic agriculture and horticulture were also products of Steiner's thinking.

True anthroposophical medical practice is a little esoteric for animals and for veterinary medicine (in humans using medicine, diet, art, movement and music in an integrated and laudable program for health). However, some of its medicines have proved to be a very useful addition to the medical armoury used pragmatically at the AVMC. We deeply respect Steiner's work and insight.

The AVMC premises, gardens and smallholding are run on organic and broadly biodynamic (Steinerist) principles.
